FAQ
You shouldn’t, this is the boring part of your sport, so the less thought and time put into this the better. That’s where Kitnetik comes in, it makes organising and storing faster. Why not time how long it takes to fold organise an store away all your sports kit? Or make a note in your calendar every time you can’t find your socks, gloves, heart rate strap before you’re heading out the door. How much time do you really waste on the boring stuff? Add that time up over a year, and ask yourself is it time well spent?
The top section is suitable for both drying and storing shoes. If you like to hose/wipe down your shoes then Kitnetik is great for drying them out quickly by a radiator. If wet shoes don’t dry out properly they tend to smell forever! If you don’t like cleaning your shoes you can use the top section to dry and store socks instead. Waterproof socks would benefit from having the aluminium profile inside them, conducting heat inside and holding the material apart to improve airflow.
It saves time, because you only hang your kit up once, then put it all away together so you don’t loose bits of kit.
Washing and hanging up your kit will take the same amount of time as a conventional clothes dryer. Putting it all away, and having all your kit stored together is where time is gained. Put all your sports kit away in seconds, just pick it up and store it in a wardrobe, on a hook, in another magnetic location, in the back of a van, it’s up to you. Having an organised storage hanger means you won’t waste time looking for those missing bits of kit in the early morning panic to get out of the door.
The main body is made from powder coated aluminium, with stainless steel fasteners so they won’t rust from water and salty sweat. The magnets are nickel coated neodymium with neoprene rubber covers.
Most household radiators will operate around this temperature, anything in excess of this may cause burns should people come into contact with them. The compact and powerful magnets used have a maximum operating temperature of 80°C, but will start to loose holding strength (temporarily – it returns when they cool down again) close to this maximum temperature. The magnets are incredibly strong so don’t need all of their strength to hold sports kit. However if you find the Kitnetik is very slowly sliding down the radiator it may be because the temperature is too high (or it’s overloaded with extra kit, or the rubber magnet covers have reduced friction). Reducing the individual temperature at the radiator valve (reducing the water flow in) or reducing the overall heating temperature at the boiler will help to increase the strength of the magnets.
You can make whatever you like it’s your time spend how your please, but really, no it won’t work. You will need powerful and magnets to hold the weight of all your kit, and a coat hanger will only hold one or two bits of kit. The hanger will also need to be slightly raised to keep kit off the floor, oh and it’ll look terrible. Don’t forget the rubber magnet covers to add enough friction so it doesn’t slide down the radiator.
